Afefe Iku The Elite cover

The Elite delivers powerful music and a strong message. Afefe Iku is the mysterious protégé of Osunlade, who was responsible for the mighty Mirror Dance. Yoruba Records have always combined hard hitting messages with potent musical arrangements. Osunlade questioned Power To Conquer as Latina Café on an early release, whilst the ass implants referencing Mr. President was an open letter to those in charge. Since then, Osunlade has not been shy to speak his mind, both in music and on social media. Check his vocal delivery on Afefe Iku’s Not In The Mood! Sista Georgia is a politically charged A Side, which features the spoken word of Georgia Jackson. Jackson’s son was murdered following an attempted prison break and the words are taken from a press conference at the time. On Sista Georgia, these words are backed by racing strings and solemn percussion. Karma Debt features playful jazzy keys and swinging beats, although the spoken word message is anything but. Saffron rounds out the EP with golden keys, pained vocal snatches and masterful synths. This is a vinyl only release, so hunt down your copy now!
