Discover forgotten love with this enchanting collection of musical memories from A Man Called Adam. Presented in ‘mixtape’ style, this feels like the sort of compilation you could find when cleaning out the loft. Here, we have a selection of alternative versions of prime cuts and Other Stuff from the AMCA catalogue. As you would expect with AMCA, the standard is high. The Balearic champions present a collection that stands out on its own two feet, with help from a few key friends such as the Idjuts and Ibizan deity Jose Padilla, who did much to raise the profile of AMCA with his iconic compilations. The recent passing of Padilla has unlocked an outpouring of memories from a diverse range of actors that shows just how important the DJ was. Padilla was incredibly open minded when it came to selecting records and that approach is reflected in the diversity of music on this compilation. There are twenty tracks with which to discover or rediscover the joys of Sally Rodgers and Steve Jones’ music. The alternative versions of the classics really shine, giving you reasons to fall in love with them all over again. The Head Mix of Barefoot In The Head is a minimalistic take on the track, with pointed synths and angular beats. AMFP is presented in dogged dub form with Garage style beats and billowing synths, whilst The Lost Edit of Techno Powers is a mesmerizing version of the track. Elsewhere, there are fine moments across the whole Balearic spectrum, from calm ambient relaxing moments to House bumpers. This is a fine collection of oddities and rarities, here’s to volume two!
